The link to cybernetics
During his doctorate in business administration, in particular business informatics and information management, at WHU, Dr Werner Boysen was introduced to the possibilities of cybernetics, the science of systems, by his doctoral supervisor and discovered cybernetic principles as interesting approaches for dealing appropriately with dynamic and complex situations. Since then, he has derived and tested useful tools from the basic ideas of cybernetics for application in business practice.
Companies are dynamic and complex systems whose functioning cannot be analysed using traditional methods alone. A balanced mix of classic and cybernetic methods is recommended in order to understand companies and manage them in a system-orientated manner.
After 13 years of specialist and management responsibility in industry, Dr Boysen set up his own business as a management consultant and interim manager at the age of 40 in order to contribute his experience to companies and further expand his knowledge across companies and sectors.
As a member of the Dachgesellschaft für Deutsches Interim Management (DDIM) and a member of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für System Dynamics and the Gesellschaft für Wirtschafts- und Sozialkybernetik (GWS), Dr Werner Boysen brings both worlds together, thereby unlocking stability, profitability and value.
