Meaningful company valuations in accordance with IDW S1

Professional company valuations according to the capitalised earnings value method

‘A mighty flame arises from a tiny spark.’

Dante Alighieri
Italian poet and philosopher, (deceased 1321)

In some situations, an objective business value is needed that has been determined using recognised and comprehensible methods. Such situations include intended changes in the rights to the company shares, for which the company value or the value of the business operations and, if applicable, the commercial property used for business purposes must be determined by an expert.

  • As the seller, a solid company valuation provides you with a realistic, objective value of your company
  • As a prospective buyer, you receive a realistic, objective value of your target through a solid company valuation
  • As a taxpayer, you can use a business valuation to make a factual argument to the tax office, for example in the event of an impending exit tax

Whether you are a seller, prospective buyer or taxpayer: We provide you with comprehensibly documented company valuations using the capitalised earnings value method in accordance with the recognised IDW Standard 1 (IDW S1). This gives you an objective view of the actual company value and allows you to weigh up your decisions more carefully.

Our offer for company valuations

  • We carry out clearly and comprehensibly documented company valuations in accordance with IDW S1
  • As a rule, we apply the recognised income capitalisation approach
  • We also incorporate a professional assessment of the strategic and operational risks associated with the business activity into the company valuation
  • We use the liquidation value method for companies that are to be wound up
  • Our proven specialists also carry out valuations of commercially used properties and commercial real estate

Our working method: the capitalised earnings value method and the liquidity value method

For ‘going-concern’ companies, we generally work according to the recognised capitalised earnings value method. According to this method, all expected future cash flows from the company are discounted to the shareholders and added together. The risk associated with the company’s business activities plays a key role in discounting.

We use the liquidation value method for companies that are to be wound up/liquidated. As a result, you receive the value that accrues to you through the closure of the relevant business operations, the release of all employees and the sale of all assets. The liquidation value can be an interesting reference value if your company is in an economic crisis and needs to be reorganised.

Knowing the restructuring costs (see restructuring concepts) and the liquidation value, shareholders of a company in financial crisis can decide whether their company is worth restructuring.

We prepare your company valuation in accordance with IDW S1

Our specialists know how to prepare objective company valuations in accordance with current standards. We have proven expertise in the use of valuation methods and prepare valuations that provide you with a reliable basis for your strategic decisions in purchase processes, shareholder changes or liquidations.
